Benefits

The JBTLF-x-14V provides the following Benefits to your Homebuilt Aircraft:

Protects Wiring and Connectors from Short-Circuit Conditions
(The JBTLF-xx-14V reacts much faster than Wire-Fuse Technology)
"Soft-Fails": If the Short-Circuit goes away, Lamp Driving will Resume
(Unlike Fuses or Circuit-Breakers which need to be Replaced/Reset by the Pilot)
Ideal for Composite/Foam Structures
(Current-limiting greatly reduces the chance of "Sparking" in Short-Circuit Conditions)
"Auto-Wattage" mode adjusts the Lamp Output to current Voltage Conditions
(Prevents "Burn-In" and reduction of Lamp Life under higher than normal Voltage Conditions)
"Flashing" Mode allows for Traffic Awareness and easy identification to Ground Controllers
Over-Voltage Lock-out shuts down Lamp in "Runaway Alternator" Conditions
(Prevents Over-Current Condition on Lamp Wiring)
Status LED's provide a quick check of Burned-out or Shorted Lamps
Module Synchronization allows Multiple Modules to Flash in Synchronization
Light Switch Inputs require only 0.5 milliamps to Switch
(Allows the use inexpensive Switches and Potentiometers for Switching)

Choosing Your Module

  1. Decide whether you are driving Automotive Lamps or Aircraft Lamps
(The Automotive Lamps will state something to the effect of: 'Rated 12V/100 Watts')
  2. Decide whether you want both Lights to Flash (i.e. in Wig-Wag Fashion) or
whether you want only ONE Light to Flash.
(Note - The second mode is useful if you have TWO Landing Lights and TWO Taxi Lights
since having the Flashing Split up between two Modules means that should one module
fail, the other module will still drive one Landing Light and One Taxi Light.
Please see the 'JBTLF User and Installation Guide' on the Support Page for
    more information.)
  3. If you have decided on the 'only LIGHT1 Flashes' approach, you now need to decide whether
you want the module to Flash on Even Phase or Odd Phase.
(Note - For the Modules to Flash in 'Wig-Wag' Fashion, you will need one
Even Phase Module and one Odd Phase Module.)

Current Features of the JBTLF

*Auto-wattage Mode sets the Voltage at which the module will automatically start reducing power to the Lights to avoid "burn-in".
**Flash Mode sets whether both Lights Flash, only Light1 Flashes in Even Phase, or only Light1 Flashes in Odd-phase when the Flash input is active.
